26 reasons
to remember why
He came

It’s Christmas, but I find it
difficult to feel celebratory. I know
most are probably feeling the same way with hearts heavy and broken from last
week’s devastation. And yet I am
reminded of why He came. He came not
because He wanted us to decorate trees and drink egg nog and rack up credit
card debt giving gifts. He came because we
are in darkness, and He is the Light of the world. John 8:12 Come, let us behold Him. Perhaps
we have never needed to more.
Thank-you so much for this! I too reflected on the True Light today...our one sure hope. We have a family in our community who lost their eldest child, a 17 year old daughter in a car crash on Friday night. We know she is in Heaven, but the sorrow of love remains.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Oh, what a difficult thing...my heart goes out to them. Thank you Janet. Have a blessed Christmas.
DeleteAs perfect as words can be for solace and hope, Jennifer.
ReplyDeleteChristmas should be about hope, right? Thank you so much Wendy.
Deleteamen.
ReplyDeleteit is hard to find christmas this year in light of what happened and continues to happen--the other atrocities that seem to pop up daily...we need to find that though, the warmth of the season, if for no other reason than to shine that light a bit brighter...
Yes...it is good to be reminded that we are not without hope and light...the best way to celebrate the season. Shine on.
DeleteRemember feeling distraught when a similar thing happened in scotland in 1996. All the more reason to welcome the light of the world this advent. God bless.
ReplyDeleteOh how horrible...and yes, all the more reason, couldn't have said it better myself.
DeleteSo true, beautiful Jennifer.
ReplyDeleteThank you Lisa...a Merry Christmas to you and your family~
