What Lies Beneath – Vandy Massey

Let all the dry and brittle
fall away,

you’ll green again.

I’ll climb you in summer,
hidden,

speaking poetry
to my own ears,

remembering the taste
of my own name,

letting all the dry and brittle
fall away,

to green again.

I really like this one - nice imagery too! Remembering the taste of my own name is my favorite part.

:) - we chose the same image. I love the title - wish I'd thought of it! And the repetition 'green again' yet used in different ways is brilliant, Jennifer ~

mmm there is magic in this....love the touch on the cycle of life...but the intimacy in climbing them again and not forgetting your name....

This is lovely, Jennifer. I especially like

"hidden,

speaking poetry
to my own ears,"

I do it myself, and it is renewing - sans the climbing, of course. Though one's imagination can go there. Smiles.

This poem accomplishes so much as a whole! I love the way it circles back on itself, like the seasons, like life.

I'm sorry it has taken me all week to get back to late entries on the challenge.

I love the sense of hope and faith in this poem. Wise words: Let all the dry and brittle fall away.

This is a gem of a poem. Simply gorgeous! I read it four times. I also loved the painting you chose, but I was on vacation in FL enjoying the beach - working on my "green". :)
