Brandywine

Organic Brandywine Tomato Sprouts

I’m going to buy an orchard
and pick fruit, waving flies away.

I’ll wear a straw hat
and a sleeveless shirt.

I’m going to garden
and bake pies—

thick ones, full of hearty chunks of tart fruit.
And I am going to walk in the evenings,

when it’s still light,
after grilled chicken and sliced tomatoes.

And I’m going to forgive myself
when I remember all the things I never did.

No one can do everything, but grilled chicken and tomato slices sounds like a marvelous start.

Forgiving ourselves is key...we often talk about forgiving others but we rarely forgive ourselves. I have always wondererd why that is...

So, a lot of things in the 'To-Do' list. Now, better start it one at a time. ;)

Well, I reckon if we ever did do everything we ever wanted to do, we didn't want to do enough :-)
Nice one. Enjoyed your words.

Jennifer, that last line is 'killer good.' It blew me away. Yes, all the things one says one is going to do and doesn't could fill a book, right?

So today I am.....just going to take a walk!! (And read/write poetry) LOL.

Love the ending - too often we live in regret. Forgiveness, especially to ourselves, is definitely the way to inner peace.

Oh Maude! (my version of OMG). POETRY. I'll be by with the pickup to carry you to the fields. I love poetry born in real life with ordinary words singing brilliantly. Well done, Jennifer.

A nice optimistic poem that gives a sensual description of a relaxed life in the midst of nature. And forgiving ourselves is the wisest decision we can ever make. It makes us happier as people.

You can say that again, Jennifer! One often reflects on the 'what if's' with a little amusement and a little regret! Nicely!
