Bye-bye Bad Blood

I buried
the bubonic bitterness
in the backyard;
built a bonfire
to burn
the bits
of the behemoth boa
the buzzards
wouldn’t bite.
It’s better off
beheaded
instead of boiling
on my back.

heck yeah...best to get it off your back
than to weigh you down...smiles...nice play with the b's

Amen to that. That repeated B seems to say bad bad bad all the way through. Maybe this treatment made it better better, but truly, I couldn't tell if the character was still alive or already dead!

An excellent write - filled with awesome imagery. It reminded me of that timeless quote from Mark Twain: Anger is an acid that can do more harm to the vessel in which it is stored than to anything on which it is poured.

Oh yeah, a great write about ending any connection to bitterness and its cause

Reminds me of my daughter, who had a midnight bonfire in the driveway one full moon and burned her wedding dress. In our family, we dont go in for understatement. Hee hee. Thanks for the poem - and the memory.

How clever and talented you are! The b's work together for good effect.

Isn't this the truth!! I loved the symbolism here. Bitterness and anger are MUCH better burned and buried :)

How cleverly written, the B's just added that extra touch!

I love this one-so clever to go with the b's! It rolls off the tongue and reminds us to leave bitterness behind. Well Done

Wonderful--and absolutely the only way to be, if you can manage it. Thanks. k.
