Dreams and Poems and Relativity

Poet's Sleep, 1989, by Chang Houg Ahn, image via The Mag 208

Asleep
in time’s elbow,
drifting toward
Escher’s labyrinth

the joint bends
toward
the dark,
toward
the light,

I follow
hoping
neither burn me,
knowing
they already have.

And why do your words leave me feeling uneasy? Hmm...

Powerful closing here...hopefully the burns heal and it doesn't cause a shyness away from the day or the light in the future.

ooh, I like this. first, the image is quite interesting. second, I adore MC Escher (comes from the math side of my brain).

the idea that either way, light or dark, will burn is neat.

smiles yes... they already have - escher is way cool - i'm amazed at how he literally sucks you into his paintings...and poetry can do much the same...

I see this too, sometimes our writing can lead us to places, for which we then discover, change... rewrite, relive! Lovely sense of truth in your poem. Bravo!
Writing, is a love hate love kind of thing!

Keenly sagacious; in other words, very well done.

A wonderful compliment to an Escher labyrinth. It pulled me in like Alice in Wonderland.

Indeed. And yet we dare to dream, and dare to write our thoughts and share. Nice.

I like the image of Escher's Labyrinth. The last line is intriguing.
