Yabber-yabber, do
bird,
it’s no ordinary thing
to hang a song in a tree,
to make a valentine of music,
sweet songbird,
on the vine.
Here I am
all blush and flush and flutter,
raptured full and giddy,
on your golden, wild wine.

Did you receive your hall pass from Zacky? I love the exuberance of this. Those French horns, leave them unattended for five minutes and they're off climbing trees.
ReplyDeleteGot it. I owe him a chew toy!
DeleteAnd you have, Jennifer! Made "a valentine of music," that is ... and how sweet it is! Mary Oliver may have inspired it, but it's your muse, your voice. Love it.
ReplyDeleteThank you, thank you, thank you! Your kind words made my day.
