Swallowed up
in the belly of my bones,
a shy sweetheart, guarded.
Swallowed up
in the belly of my heart,
a promised ark, departed.
Swallowed up
in the belly of the storm,
where it started.
Swallowed up
in the belly of a hawk,
hope, disregarded.
Swallowed up
in the belly of a crow,
the dream, a shell, discarded.
So heartrendingly sad, Jennifer. So desolate. I can feel this one in my bones.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Shay. I feel the sadness in this. It is the sadness that come to me so often as I face each day my Dawn, my daughter is gone.
ReplyDeleteA sad poem, crushing but beautifully written. ❤️🩹
