Words
like whirligig,
puzzle,
firestorm,
words
for the day,
sit
on my couch
in
cozy pajamas
sipping
hot tea.
Bring
pillows, they say,
and
candles.
These
lights hurt our eyes.
Noisy
seabirds duck and dive
a
cove somewhere outside. Waves
crash
the shore.
I
listen hard for the music
of
salt and driftwood—
for
words like ebb,
buoyed,
float.
“Cast
your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you…” Psalm 55:22.

ReplyDeleteAren't you glad we need to go through times that test our words?!

Really wonderful, warm greetings!
ReplyDeletethose words pack a punch....but 'float'--yes. may we learn to cast all our cares on the Lord. How He cares for us. thank you.
ReplyDeleteSo restorative and calming. It is true - we can find peace in our lives by choosing to. Serenity is there if we are open to it and surrender to it. Sea images are perfect for this piece as there is such tranquility conferred in the ocean's ebb and flow and a visceral communion with a divine majesty.
ReplyDeleteWishing that you always can find your way above the cares of this world - nice poem!
ReplyDeleteLove the hunt for these words... sometimes I think of myself sieving for words.
ReplyDelete__Here, I mean no disrespect to anyone, to their beliefs, or to the "Scriptures." In
ReplyDeletefact, I see a strong relationship between the things of our Earth and our Lord; our Earth Life, I see as the figurehead of our Lord.
