snow,
heavy,
slush-like,
weighing down
burnt orange leaves
raked
and scooped
and heaped
in hardship
wishing now
to pull them out
turn them green
glue them back
one by one
onto
trees
to rustle softly
an enchanted echo
hushed
in winter’s tide
