Eggshells

I won't play your eggshell game.

It's a drag
and you can't hold me hostage
anymore

from who I am,
from who I am meant to be,

from happiness.

Honestly, it's rude,
and you continue to behave childishly,

demanding things
on your own selfish terms.

Meanwhile,
I am making new loves

and they don't require that I tiptoe,

they say,
give it all you got, girl,

go ahead,
crunch.

What a wonderful take on "freedom" - give it all you got girl!

Great choice of word, Jennifer! It is absolutely awful to be around people who make you feel you are constantly walking on eggshells.

This poem is very empowering, Jennifer! No need for tip-toeing with people who know and like you like you are.

No more walking on eggshells--go crunch and be yourself! Thanks for posting.

Yes! Not having to walk on eggshells is a wonderful expression of freedom. Crunch, crunch, crunch - Freedom isn't always quiet. Then again, it doesn't have to be.

Yes, one sets the pace. Not to be goaded into funny things by others. Great anticipation for a great year ahead! Wonderful thoughts Jennifer!

Give it all you've got . . . oh yes. Great word you've chosen.

I think it is very important for people to realize their strengths, whether someone is dragging them down or not, because it is that kind of strong motivation towards self-awareness that helps people through every day and all the struggles that may come with it. Great poem Jen!
