Meadowdance

Indian paintbrush
and velvet rose,
a butterfly kiss
on my cheek, on my toes—
color me summer, remind me how to sing,
leave lipstick on winter
and the last breath of spring.

  11. As you know, I do love a touch of rhyme. And what better place for it than in a welcome-to-summer meadowdance. "leave lipstick on winter" - what a metaphor for the tired old thing.

  14. beautiful, fun write. i love it when the wildflowers bloom, they are so exuberant in their brief gloy. This could be anywhere, but looks exactly like the meadow above the Sunrise ranger station on Mt Rainier in washinmgton, looking toward Burroughs Mountain, with those little stands of Engleman spruce on the ridge.
