Rant/Dance/Bleed/Fly…at the Poets Pub

Like a sweaty mosh pit?
Well no,
that’s not it,
exactly.

Like a rave?
With neon rainbows and ecstasy?
Nope, not that either.

Something a lot more classy—

or less,
depending on what’s on their minds.

Oh I get it,
like classic
rock ‘n’ roll.

Hmmthat’s good, too—
but no, it’s more than that,
more like
a symphony

of nations, tribes and tongues—
listening
to each other,
tasting
what they have to offer,
learning
there are many ways to rant/dance/bleed/fly.

Yes, yes
that’s more like it.

But
you can still
bring your Bic lighter
and bang your head
in the glow
if you want to.

Because whatever your preference,
they’re playing your song.

Bring your crumpled paper, your scribbled on napkins, your laptops, your tablets for the dVerse Poets Pub 3rd Anniversary Celebration!  Brian and Claudia and the whole staff open the doors and invite any poet, anywhere to share their voice and to listen in.  I’m sure I join others in saying that I owe them a debt of gratitude for all the work and love they put into keeping the Pub going.  And to all the poets who gather there, you have enriched, enlightened, inspired—thank you for sharing your words.  Meet you there!

that is what i love most...that there are so many different voices and so many different songs to be played... listening to each other, learning from each other...that is cool - i just met one of our dVerse poets in basel today - he was on a holiday and asked if we want to meet - and it was great - poetry as the common denominator..loving this

I love this part: learning
there are many ways to rant/dance/bleed/fly.

and this ending:
Because whatever your preference,
they’re playing your song.

Thanks for adding your lovely voice to the celebration Jennifer ~

That is such a lovely sentiment and expressed so beautifully in your verse - exactly how I feel about dVerse! They're playing our song - whatever your song might be...

Well..when i go to raves..which believe or not..i do every Thursday Night..at 54..with college age kids..to keep..fit..in touch with the younger generation and all of that..

OH GOD!

i do find the quality of conversation lacking...

BuTT..

the nov-verbal communication..that other part of the 60 to 93 percent of human communication..
works well it seems..

but yah..
i do still miss the words of connection ...i so freely find online here!:)

I'm up for any kind of music that can vibrate through me –reminding me to breathe – & a lyric or two I can wrap my own tongue around. I enjoy an eclectic mix...which the pub definitely does imbue. a lovely description and write.

I like how you explore the concept of dVerse in your poem by explaining what it is like. :-)

What a perfect description of what happens here at the pub. The variety is a good part of what makes this place so special.

uh-huh! yes ma'am! that's it - we're open to whatever you bring, whoever you are, we'll show you ours if you show us yours and there's always time for a smile, a giggle, a laugh, a reminiscence, a time on the porch, a fire-fly serenade. You can find it here if you look. Happy to have you in the pub!

very cool and casual, as if a conversation en route to the bar itself. I like.

Tasting what they have to offer... being able to return an opinion, without the angry political words of reprisal.
