The
years have worn us,
like
sea glass,
two
broken pieces
tossed
together
against
stone and wave—
and,
here we are now,
smoother,
more luminous,
and
better
than
we were
for
the tumbling.

ReplyDeletecongratulations. we hit 20 years this year, back in may - but we just got back from a trip to the beach to celebrate it. my how we have grown since our first stumbling steps. smiles.
ReplyDelete"better than we were for the tumbling." Loved that line. Happy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful - visual with a soft and soothing energy to it. There is nothing lovelier in this world, than having someone to share it with. It is a precious thing. The tumbling of sea glass: an inspired and evocative metaphor.
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary!
ReplyDeleteI read this in a very different way ... as a person with bipolar disorder or split personality, talking to herself.
Best wishes to you and Ian_!
