(Almost) Eighteen

The years have worn us,
like sea glass,

two broken pieces
tossed together
against stone and wave—

and, here we are now,
smoother, more luminous,

and
better
than we were
for the tumbling.

This is wonderful - visual with a soft and soothing energy to it. There is nothing lovelier in this world, than having someone to share it with. It is a precious thing. The tumbling of sea glass: an inspired and evocative metaphor.

Happy anniversary!

I read this in a very different way ... as a person with bipolar disorder or split personality, talking to herself.
