He's
gathering up,
one by
one, and placing,
the
memorial stones.
I can
hear it
all
through the house.
I
press my palm
to the
door,
feel
his heartbeat
in
sobs calling out
from
the other side--
ruins
beautiful
for
the remembering,
and
whisper
a
mother's prayer
for
grief too big
for
these hands alone.
more touching with every reading! beautiful.Still often think of you and yours:)

So heartful Jen_! _m
I remember your post from last year when your son lost his friend. It must be excruciating to watch as a mom; thank you for sharing this piece with us.

Such a terrible tragedy ... your poem so poignant and tender. If only there were words to offer, that would help to ease such crushing pain. Alas, time and prayer ... are all we are given.
ReplyDeleteAn extremely poignant, sensitive poem. V. effective.
ReplyDeleteYour words always reach so deep into the soul...and this is no exception
