Sexploitica

I cue moonlight,
light tealights,

trail petals
to my heart,

but you,
pornblind and hooked,

don’t even know
where to start.

Pornography addiction, especially via the internet, is a relationship killer.  If you or someone you know is struggling, there is help.  Lots of resources out there, Celebrate Recovery and Pure Desire among them.

sadly far too many men waist all their love and fervor on glassy pictures

Gosh, you pack a powerful punch, so sadly tender! one of your best.thank-you for pointing the way to help.

This is done so well. It begins so lovingly and romantically – and then BAM: “pornblind and hooked” and the tenderness is shattered – meanly shattered – by the stark, cold contrast.

"pornblind and hooked"
powerful truth
and the hooks dig in deep

What a sad situation. I cannot imagine how horrible a wife must feel! Really good to know that there IS help available.

That's just sad, when porn takes the place of real connection. "pornblind and hooked" is so descriptive. I feel bad for the woman in the poem.

so poignant and true.... so many are sexualized at a young age before they can really defend themselves.

I hope this isn't autobiographical. Your poem reminds me of the work of Phillip Zimbardo and his research on young men and how porn literally changes the brain. (https://www.ted.com/talks/zimchallenge?language=en) This is a topic especially close to my soul, thanks for writing it, much gratitude, Moskowitz
