she placed snowshoes on the mountain,
a shine to the lips of heaven
in a musical crunching of white
with peek-a-boo pine cones and twigs
it was in moments like this she felt it,
breathed it
when douglas firs and
lodgepole pines
held a shimmering of frost
and a barn owl’s low hoot
gave her a sense of mulled cider
when the fire is just right
and so is the world

Beautiful. When the fire is just right, so is the world. So very true. Put another log on the fire!!
A fresh, cozy, and comforting poem.
Just gorgeous! We aren't there yet, but soon I hope
I love how you skillfully held My breath til the last line. Beautiful!
"it was in moments like this she felt it,
breathed it" - the essence of poetry isn't it. Lovely.
loved the opening of placing snowshoes on the mountain... I loved snowshoeing we're getting into that season soon.
"When the fire is just right
And so is the world."
That blissful moment of perfection. :)
Beautifully peaceful. I'm with Enignatic Soul: blissful
This develops the spirit of place line by line until we have the whole picture. Beautiful mood piece.

Oh, I miss my wood stove.. there was some type of wood.. think it was Birch, (not certain) that had such a lovely smell to it as it burned too.
This sounds so delightful... cold enough for wood stove fire here these days.
