Inconsequentially Rotating the Ball

yoga, green tea, SUV
pop culture, church, reality TV
and don’t forget trips to Ha-wa-ii
raining down words
while sitting fat
like Jabba the Hutt
on a throne
of carc-ass-es

children of the same god

Mother Teresa should send us all to our rooms
to think about it

i like some of the things i’ve listed here, so this is not meant to offend anyone if they like any of them too…it’s just thoughts about what’s important on this big ball we live on and what we do, and don’t do, on it…

I enjoy some of the things that you enjoy too.

And I bet even Mother Theresa would have enjoyed green tea! And DEFINITELY church. Reality TV, not so much! Smiles!

Makes me reflect on what my priorities are in life and what and where I spend my time, energy and money...

nice...i agree....we are a lazy people with limited compassion, far i imagine what love was intended...

I think somehow Mother Theresa would agree with much of this, so do I :)

She may have definitely enjoyed them--nothing wrong with any of these things--point being how much time, effort, money we spend doing them, as if life is all about us. Thanks Mary!

Yeah, I think I can be lazy and self-absorbed...while much of the world suffers I crave more of what makes me feel good. That was my take on the prompt...love of myself, then hating when I realize I ignore the often dire needs of others.

Hi Loredana, thanks for visiting! I think you're right about leading by example. And spiritually speaking that is one of the points I was trying to make--Mother Teresa didn't just "go to" church--she lived her faith. She didn't let herself be her "god"...she lived sacrificially for others.

Thanks Daydreamertoo...maybe she would, glad you do. :)

Thanks! I'm glad you like that part. I know I send my kids to their rooms when I want them to think about what they've done and how they are going to behave differently. Thought it might work here...haha.

haha :) I think she's a good example to look at for point of reference when I'm consumed with me...and how to be a little less so.

Oh, I guess, materialism becomes an obstacle when we start allowing things (or the desire for things) to control us...Mother Teresa must walk in to divert us, before we get trapped under a mountain of debt with no realistic way out. ..*smiles*
Lovely...

I think you're right about materialism, we can let it control our lives. And where I live most of us live so rich but spend so much of what we have--time, money, etc.--on entertaining ourselves. The way M. Teresa lived her life and the things she did for the poor, the sick, the dying brings it back for me--and what we really should be concerned with. Thanks so much for your comment and the follow!

This is sharp but not scathing; it gives the reader something to think about and that's great.

Lots of truth in this, we so often get caught up in the inconsequential that we lose sight of the important things in life. Thanks so much for sharing this!
