sprig

it’s true, falling in love and falling asleep

can be so much alike—dreamy, like snowdrift

but remember, never stand alone

with no one at your six,

wide-eyed ‘neath the mythle-toe,

a frog’s tongue in your cheek,

freshly minted, masquerading

as a prince’s kiss

  1. I love the thin line between poison and sweet love you draw using being under the misteltoe as your imagery. Great poem! 🩵

  16. Jennifer, I love how your playful “mythle-toe” turns a sweet kiss into a clever warning that not every fairy-tale prince is what he seems. 😊

    Much love,
