It’s amazing how waves
crash the shore
but leave behind
a silky beach—
smoothed,
the rubble rinsed away.
So here I am, as I am,
fretful, storm-tossed, casting my cares
like a net into the crest
of your promise to care for me,
and land in the smooth sanctum
of your peace.

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7

....."and land in the smooth sanctum of your peace......" that is so lovely.
ReplyDeleteLovely poem and I love that last stanza
ReplyDelete"....casting my cares / like a net into the crest / of your promise to care for me,..." I love this deep faith and the tone of surrender. Very much uplifting, Jennifer.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful description of faith - Jae
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jae - what a beautiful description of faith! (And the peacefulness that faith brings)

Like the shore! How beautiful a comparison, how palpable a faith! I like your two Bible verses as well. (This is Susan commenting.)
So encouraging and what a wonderful promise when we're in the storms of life. I love the image of a silky beach left behind after the crashing waves.
ReplyDeleteThat photo is my peace. Thank you for sharing.
