When escapes a tiny gasp
astonished by spring’s fresh-lit match
bursting against the gray—
you’ve begun to see
the world again
through the lens of joy—
and come thorn, come rain,
winter’s worst cannot stop
its blossom way.

What’s Going On? When Nature Takes Your Breath Away

I love the joy in this poem, Jennifer, especially the ‘a tiny gasp’ at ‘spring’s fresh-lit match’.

The first flowers--crocus here--does draw attention like a fire! Color is welcome and a lens of joy for me, too.
I love this poem!
ReplyDelete"bursting against the gray—"...Absolutely miraculous. I love this 'might' layered with joy. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSeeing the world through joy - so wonderful!
ReplyDeleteJennifer, I can see why that blossom would sprout your poem. It's lovely. With the warm weather in Michigan, the lawn and back field are afire with dandelions.
ReplyDeleteSuch encouraging poetry, makes me smile and be thankful for the brightness of hope. My favorite "When escapes a tiny gasp

That "lens of joy" comes to a fresh focus through your words, Jennifer.

ReplyDeleteThe wonder of the spring bloom... from harshness it comes..(and cactuses are a wonderful example)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous flower in the midst of a beautiful poem!
ReplyDeleteCactus flowers always surprise me when they appear. The lens of joy is not always easy to find. Nicely written Jennifer 👏
