macaw

i am scarlet-robed, feathersoft,

and blue sapphire tonight

i am hollowed, fragments—

beak, claw and bone

i am birdnote, and call sign

and song-light, tonight

will take whispers, sweet nothings,

morsels from your hand,

just nestle me shoulder-tight,

be my soft place to land

  6. So eloquent, as light as the bird when it lands. Love it!

  7. Lovely - a lovely exploration of the "bird" prompt—moving from the anatomy of the creature to the emotion of the song💕

  8. You captured the colourful macaw, Jennifer, and made me smile. I especially love the lines:
    ‘i am hollowed, fragments—
    beak, claw and bone’
    and
‘i am birdnote, and call sign
    and song-light, tonight’.

  10. Beautifully crafted--lovely and tender--fragile as those bird bones, haunting as their song.
