rubbed together in a pocket,
rattling
smallish and fierce,
davidic—
or, too, like pieces of cloud
puffy-white against a blanket of oh-so-baby-tear-drop blue
or, a drip-draping of grayish snow,
just a tad cranky, only a touch ominous
or rising
like the sun, or a siren, yea high and heralding—
costa’s hummers and pink fairy dusters
and other such underestimated beautiful mayhem

dVerse poetics: turn of phrase

I love this Jenifer especially the last two lines surrealy beautiful 🙌
ReplyDeleteI love the title, Jennifer, like an angel with a message, how the fragments of phrases ‘rubbed together in a pocket, rattling’, and the cranky snow. Great use of colour, too. I needed some ‘underestimated beautiful mayhem’.
ReplyDeleteMahem, eh? I'm a fan. It usually turns into something fabulous. Beautiful prose.
ReplyDeletegood lord, you always make it look so easy. <3
ReplyDeleteI love it! Creative and beautiful. So wonder filled, full of life and zest. Keep writing these beautiful works of mayhem.
ReplyDeleteLove this--love that they are just a tad or a touch of the ominous
ReplyDeleteYour imagery is stunning!
ReplyDeleteGreat title! I like the next phrases as I imagine written poems rattling in my pocket, written on paper or napkins whatever was available.
ReplyDeleteSuspenseful and well-written piece.
ReplyDeleteGreat write Jennifer. 👏 I had to look up 'Costa's hummers' as I was imagining it to be a strong coffee....
ReplyDeleteI imagine poems are like pieces of clouds.
