Convertible

I’ve always been a Mustang girl,

but this—

cherry red

and just my size,

caught my eye,

turned my head, full throttle.

Oh, little red

prince,

you’re a sweet-tooth-ache

parked sugar daddy, solid, timeless—

and I’m still young and free

and cruise-ready

to coddle.

  1. Jennifer, I can feel your jones for this "parked sugar daddy." Love the Prince reference!

  2. My brother had one of these; wrapped it around a telephone pole...

  4. Jennifer, your poem feels like a joyride—playful and smooth. I really enjoyed the cheeky energy and the way desire and freedom seem to share the driver’s seat.

    Much love,
    David

  7. What David said, a joy ride of a poem, and yes, that car could turn one away from even a Mustang.
