Clint & Emma Photo by Sydney Keller Photo |
She is a beautiful fragrance
born on the cusp of summer
like a flower pressed
to release the heart of a bloom.
She holds the charm
of sunlight in her golden-brown hair
and the air sparkles around her
smile, and my son’s, delighted to be her groom.
Two flames, soon one,
lit since he danced in my womb,
with my hand rested there in prayer
for him—she, the answer born of God’s perfume.

Perfect timing at What’s Going On? as today is my son’s fiancée Emma’s birthday.
Happy birthday, sweet girl!
What a delightful poem celebrating also the birth of a life-long romance. Congratulations!

DeleteHow very lovely. They are both so beautiful - and happy! Must make your mother's heart happy too. She looks as lovely as a summer's day. (Sounds like she is getting a loving mother-in-law, to add to the joy!)
ReplyDeleteIt does indeed make my heart happy to see my boy, and both of them, so happy! She is a summer's day! Thanks so much, Sherry!
Delete"She is a beautiful fragrance" What a delightful poem. I especially like the opening with her fragrance, the image of how scent/heart might be pressed from a flower, and the ending with "God's perfume."
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Susan.
