Enter Through the Window

(About Poems)

Enter through the window,
not the door,
if you’re a poem.

Doors are so conspicuous.
You must be creative—

make me wonder
how you got here—

layered in metaphor,
side-smiled with simile

—surprise me,
even when just spoken plainly
from your heart.

As no doubt, even cerebral,
you are
all
heart.

Also, I’m delighted to have three poems in Lakdi Ka Pul – II, The Poetry Bridge, An International Anthology by Twin City Poetry Club.

Loved this. This is how a poem should be: a slanted surprise. Yes, use plain words to surprise me with an idea. This was great. Loved. (Love your new profile pic too.)

I really enjoyed this wonderful nuanced poem. And congrats on your latest published pieces. You are such a talented poet, Jennifer ... and it is a lovely feeling when publishers gift our writing, with wings.
