In one season
life can
bury
its own color,
cover
every inch of ground
in death
brewed from
an age-old
malady,
leave the path
covered
with skyjacked
shadows
of nearly
three thousand
who died from the
spread
of the disease—
but as shadows
are
light interrupted,
they are not then,
nor now,
light forgotten.

True as long as we remember as you do here..
those lives are forever..
in light of US free..
we stay free forever as love too..
to highlight two beams of light..where love still flows....and sings the song..
of free....
skyjacked shadows - that image sticks with me - our lives can change in a year, in a month, in a heartbeat
Lightly and nicely done.
Beautifully done Jennifer. You conveyed the darkness so well here, when all those lives were taken by hatred.
Fantastic - images and poem - wow!
Skyjacked shadows ~ I admire the subtle play of light and darkenss and such a fitting tribute to those people who lost their lives ~ Terrific response Jennifer ~
It is good to realize that it only takes one season for life to bury its own color. So much to think about here, in the memory of the 3000 lost.
Beautiful. Almost a prayer. May Peace be with us all.
This is powerful. Light will always triumph even if it gets snuffed out temporarily.
Reverence. Through remembrance, strength is born. _m
Jennifer I've been trying to put my thoughts together about that day (my daughter and I were there in NYC) I'm reminded how important it is to just keep telling the stories.
Free, the His light never contained. Yes tomorrow. And we are still free. Always.

nice remembrance here... some of the hope is we pulled together, at least, for awhile
I had hope one day it would be the end.. but it seems the malady is still spreading.
Moving tribute - and really interesting short, often one-word lines, which add to the solemnity or add gravitas to this poem. Rather like the roll-call of names...
skyjacked shadows..beautiful remembrance ..Jennifer loved this
moving remembrance of that tragic day... I wasn't there, but saw the 2nd plane crash live on air will always stick with me...
Nice remembrance as that anniversary comes around again...great response to the prompt!
Beautiful respectful tribute... so very nicely done!
Nice remembrance !
the world held its breath when this happened... thanks for the beautiful tribute..
Great writing, and a moving tribute. I love how you described the shadows as light interrupted.
In many ways, their Light remains--differently for relatives and city dwellers than for those more distant. The illustration speaks to me too.
"skyjacked shadows" - an indelible image.
your use of imagery is stunning...the ending perfect. this is a lovely tribute.
each word is so touching....
Of course, this was the first image that came to my mind when I read the topic. Wonderful job with it!
