Bloom & Float

Let’s put our thinking caps on;
we can come up with something—
I’ve always longed for a way to fly.

Somehow I knew
if we picked enough weeds,
cleared enough fallow ground,
we’d bloom and float.

It’s true,
dreams can happen
when another thing dies—
like saying goodbye
is hello to something new
in another tongue.

We just have to remember
to hold on
in the dark
where we’ll finally find—ourselves
above the clouds, among the stars.

A couple of months ago Claudia at dVerse offered us the opportunity to write to the fascinating and inspiring artwork of Catrin Welz-Stein.  I wrote this piece but had never posted it (it was my son’s birthday and a busy time).  So I’ll be submitting it for OpenLinkNight!

beautiful....smiles...i like how sometimes we have to say good bye or say no to somethings in order to say yes to other things...sometimes we have to let go other things to fly as well....i so want to fly as well...smiles.

so beautifully written... sometimes we have to let go of things to get our hands free for the new that awaits us...finding ourselves above the clouds sounds good... the flying...nice..

Wow.. very beautiful.. I so recall that prompt.. and flying away like that carried by our dream is wonderful... and that second stanza that lend itself to the title... great one.

so love the idea of this... reminds me of my grand daughter who is constantly picking and blowing those seeds... maybe she's flying on the wind with them

You have used my favorite imagery here. Pollen grains, reach with a promise awaiting fulfillment. I can go on and on. Hope is a natural state of being. Let is all believe and have faith.

One thing leads to the next… something like that. Yet, so hard while it is happening. Lovely way with words you have here describing something we all go through.

I love the idea of blooming and floating. It reminds me of the way I felt when I was little, like I was expanding and floating away, filled with happiness. I used to think of it as the bubble feeling.
The idea of growing and nurturing something together out of chaos and change is beautiful and very personally relevant at the moment- I hope your seed grows tall, out there among the stars.

A lot of sense in what is said here. Things can be seen in lots of different ways and that makes it all very interesting. Great write Jennifer!

So true...you state it beautifully...having the attitude above will carry one through any crisis I believe, and we can change our way of thinking depending on the need at the time ...poetic balloon so to speak..

Yikes.... Those spellos. I meant " each with a promise" and " Let us all believe"... Android swipe is a killer ;)

"...hold on in the dark..." good advice that. I like the idea that we can bloom and float by clearing the debris from our lives.
